In general Data loss is the inaccessibility of data stored in a computer's hard disk, or in a CD. There are a lot of reasons that lead to inaccessibility of data. These happen by hard drive crash, software corruption, a computer virus, human error, or a natural disaster.
Nature of Disaster
It is not possible to recover the data where it has totally lost. It depends upon the nature of disaster. By the data recovery we just make the data inaccessible to accessible. Simple delete of data from a directory and recycle bin is also a data loss; where as disk damaged by fire is also a data loss.
Data are stored in the disk platters. When the data platters are affected and the data is not assessable then it is actually data loss. But sometimes failure of others parts of the drive leads the inaccessibility of data and we assume it as data loss mistakenly. In fact, this is not data loss. In this case if we are taking the help of a data recovery service then we are incurring more charge for unnecessary purpose.
