The various equipment which are required are:
DISH ANTENNA
This is the most important part of dish network. The dish sends signal to the satellite above. The satellite sends back signal at a different frequency to the dish. The dish needs to be installed in an open space so that it can clearly receive signals from the satellite above in the space. The function of a dish antenna is to receive the signals send by the transponder and convert them to a low frequency and then these signals are send to the receiver with the help of a coaxial cable.
RECEIVER
A receiver decodes the signal received from the satellite and converts them into picture which can be watched on your Television in the form of channels. These receivers are provided with access card for encryption and security information. It is through the receiver that we are able to access a host of channels.

STANDARD RECEIVER
These are the regular receivers available in the market.
DVR AND HIGH DEFINITION RECEIVER
They provide features in form of skipping commercials, pausing live television,seamless recording etc.
HIGH DEFINITION TV
These TV broadcast television signal of higher resolution Digital broadcast is available with high definition TV. HDTV works on progressive scanning to create flicker-free image which is easily readable and the fast-motion video are smooth. With this technique it is possible to scan one million pixels simultaneously. It's an improvement over NTSC, PAL etc. For operating HDTV following equipment are required:
- Dish antenna
- High Definition monitor
- High Definition receiver
