How does a medical alarm work?
At the user end, the procedure is very simple. They only have to press the panic button and they will be connected to the medical staff.
Most companies provide speaker phone facility in their handsets. So, the patient will not even have to pick up the phone to talk. She will simply narrate her problem and the the necessary will be done.
But, the technology behind this is not as simple. Whenever the panic button is pressed, it transmits a radio signal to the in-home system console.
As soon as the console gets the signal, it passes on this signal to monitoring service center automatically, using an inbuilt technology.
The system console along with the panic button will will be in the possession of the user. It is the size of a notepad and can be placed at any place where it is not easily disturbed.
It is the console that will function as the speaker phone if the patient requires it.
A number of advancements are being done every day in this area. Now, some companies are providing such systems which can be taken along with you when you need to go out.
They will continue to function in your car, restaurant, in fact any where you want to go. A few other providers have designed such systems where you can select the time gap after which the console asks for a response from the user.
If the user does not reply, the console will automatically inform the the monitoring service which will try to contact the patient. If it is not possible to do so, they will send for paramedics assistance instantly.
