Night blindness is a disease where one can not see in low light. Night blindness or Nyctalopia is the inability to see well at night or in poor light. It is not a disorder in itself, but rather a symptom of an underlying disorder or problem, especially untreated nearsightedness. Night blindness is due to a disorder of the cells in the retina that are responsible for vision in dim light. It has many causes, including: Nearsightedness, Glaucoma medications that work by constricting the pupil, Cataracts, Retinitis Pigmentosa, Vitamin A deficiency. In order to determine what is causing night blindness, the eye doctor will perform a thorough eye exam and may order any of a number of specialized exams.

Night blindness is caused by deficiency of vitamin A. in general vitamin A is abundant in foods like: eggs, diary products, organ meats and fish etc. low intake of these foods cause vitamin deficiency and ultimately leads night blindness. In solving the vitamin deficiency A, abut 10,000 to 25,000 IU of vitamin A is recommended per day. Beta-carotene is less effective at correcting vitamin a deficiency than is vitamin A itself. Beta-carotene is less observed by body compared to vitamin A itself. Deficiency of zinc in body reduces the activity of retinol Dehydrogenase. Dehydronenase is an enzyme needed to help vitamin A work in the eye. In take of 15 to 30 mg of zinc per day is best for solve night blindness.
