It is a flag or a piece of cloth bearing a logo, symbol, slogan or other message. Making of banners is an ancient craft. It is derived from a Latin word bandum, a cloth out of which a flag is made. The word was developed by L.Germ which meant an official edict or proclamation.
Banners have been mentioned in the Old Testament where they were rallying point in battle. Japanese soldiers had been using banner for identification during battles. Banners have been used in crusades and in may battles and wars including American Civil War.
We keep on hearing that traditional pictorial banners are pass and nobody clicks on them. The best banner ads are the wolves in sheep's clothing, banners which cunningly disguise themselves to look like a piece of text or drop down box and are not like banner at all.
There are several types of advertising strategies used by different people. While deciding which strategy would be best for one, one should remember that the strategy may have different results with different people. One needs to decide which advertising to choose.
