The drivers are software needed to run hardware. Hardware is like printer, monitor, or scanner etc. The drivers also usually come pre-installed in your new computer. When you run your computer the first time, you may have to configure the correct driver for your brand and model of hardware, such as the printer.

But if you buy say, a new printer later, you may have to get a new driver for your new printer from the printer manufacturer. Today almost of all drivers are available at internet. One just has to download it. For it most of times your have to pay for it. But sometimes you can get drivers at free of cost. You can download these freely. Basically the parent sites (company site) give options of download. There are some other sites like www.download.com where can download most of the software. Some drives can be directly installed in the operating systems while downloading. Some others have to be downloaded to a specific folder. And the installation is made form the destination folder. Divers of small size get direct installed.

Driver is easy-to-use and powerful software for device driver's backup and restoration in Windows operation system. It identifies all the hardware in the system, extracts their associated drivers from the hard disk, and backs them up to a location of your choice. Driver files can be backed up in folders, in a compressed file, in a self-extractor or even in an auto-setup package. Then when you format and reinstall/upgrade your operating system, you can restore all the "saved" drivers just as if you had the original driver diskettes in your hands.

If driver files are backed up in an auto-setup package, they can be restored like installing software without installing Driver first.
